Presence is the grounding of conscious awareness in the body. Being still, listening deeply to life itself. Letting go of thought, judgement, shoulds, must haves and simply being present to the moment. Returning home to your essence. It is always with you but is clouded by stories created by the mind.
Like the blue sky is always there even when covered by clouds.
The first action toward the art of presence is observing the mind. Notice the chatter, the flavour of thoughts, the feelings that arise from certain thoughts. Just notice, it is important to attend to your mind as much as you would attend to your body or image. Thoughts are invisible but they create vibration. This vibration is very real and has powerful consequences. Be vigilant. If you feel disturbed check the content of the mind. Notice the effects in your body and the people around. Are they are creative or destructive thoughts. Choose to observe thoughts and feelings rather than get caught up in them. Settle into your awareness of thoughts and feelings.
Observe and connect to the part of you that is aware of thought. That awareness is the essence of the Art of Presence. To observe, sense and allow what ever arises. To be open and still.
“As you go about your life, can you be aware of yourself as the awareness in which the entire content of your life unfolds” Eckhart Tolle from Stillness Speaks
